Elevator Shaft/Stair Towers "Once you get over 2 floors in Multi-Family or Student Housing you become more of a specialist.. The codes shift from multifamily residential to a more commercial flavor.. Fire systems are frequent, and complicated with back up pumps and back-up power. Stair towers are cement rated block as well as the elevator shafts.. This sets most apart from the ordinary apartment builder. It requires a different mentality and breed of tradesman. Multi-Story is everyones 'next step' We have arrived."
Fire Reconstruction "I want to stress the fact that we do major demolition and hauling, which hints on the side of company size understating the fact that we are insured and bonded to perform this type of work. Not everyone can do this work and most cannot afford the required insurance coverages required to bond and permit this type of activity. We did a large demo job in Beaver Creek, Ohio and most recently the Spectra Job in Mishawaka, Indiana."
Hazardous Waste Removal "This is HUGE. We encountered a dangerous situation ( Spectra Project ) for both the environment and the workers coming in contact with the materials. You can see the tubs of waste in the photographs, this stuff was deadly hazardous. DC took the immediate lead and hired INSERV for the immediate containment, identification and removal of the waste. DC authorized the work by issuing a purchase order to INSERV without any concern of being reimbursed. As it turned out the Motorist Group Insurance praised us for our actions in mitigating what could have been an environmental disaster at this site."
Fire Walls, Code Upgrades "I would say that this project ( Spectra Project ) did not carry code upgrade insurance and DC took it upon themselves to ensure that the building was rebuilt to meet codes and worked closely with the owner to balance the construction costs to cover some of the unexpected additional expense. (Insurance did not cover code upgrades in this case.) DC construction found ways to building a useful building and still cover the costs of the extras. Working with people towards financial solutions."
Underground Retention Solutions "It is a specialty that requires understanding and specialized engineering. This is a function of construction on a tight site. Not many do this as you will finally get to see in the photographs. I would call it drainage solutions. Walgreens and stores like that use it all of the time. Not too many local boys are all that familiar with just how to build on top of water retention systems. It is defineatley something we know about and use in practical applications. ( Rockdell Project )"
Post/Frame Building Commercial and Agricultural "Post frame building packages available. I am working with a builder and supplier and coming up with my own brand of post frame building bundles." More coming soon...
Dave Hamman has over 30 years experience in construction... From digging holes to patching cement to actually working professionally in each of the trades. He did the concrete work, carpentry and finishes and also MEP's. He used to get criticized for jumping all around in the trades... but not anymore. Now he is a Jack of all Trades and has mastered them all. He is especially diverse and has bled in each of the trades. That is what truly sets him apart from the rest.
